No More
The dirt split open and up from the darkness rose a green shoot, aiming for the midday sun. Two leaves unfurled, like arms, muscles flexing for the first time, already strong. Soon the plant would grow taller than a man, with a mighty stalk, a bounty of leaves, and fruit and flowers. A boon to all living beings, providing food and shelter and a steady, ancient energy.
With nighttime to rest, the plant began again the next morning, pushing skyward.
Then some idiot came along and sprayed Roundup on it. But at least the lawn looked perfect again!
