Hi Troy, I sure wish I could have read a blog called Honk! Thanks for being here, always nice to connect with a fellow GenXer (and someone who can relate to the spectrumy stuff).
As you may know, our son is on the spectrum. The thing about the spectrum is that it encompasses all sorts of different things. So you are still unique you and that is a good thing. Hopefully this realization and the reading you are doing will help you figure out why you are the way you are.
Yes, I know about your son. He is a gift for sure. And it’s true - there is so much diversity in neurodiversity. I think the biggest change is that I finally gave myself permission to stop trying to be something I’m not. :)
