A lot of energy bro's are also crypto bro's. Not including me. Stranded gas wells have been a problem for years. They are wells with not enough gas to interest natural gas pipelines to connect. There are companies that manufacture bitcoin mining setups inside skid mounted heavy duty buildings that are installed at the well location. All they need is fuel gas, which is basically free since they cannot sell it and an internet connection. It's a thing.

The big miners like you talk about get dirt cheap electricity on fixed contracts and then when the ice storms happen or the heat gets high they get huge bonuses for cutting back on their usage. That means ordinary rate payers like you and me pay more. Not really a thing in Oklahoma but definitely in Texas where people are starting to get pissed off about it.

wow, that's really interesting - gas mining! i had no idea!

in oklahoma we just got our big giant debt from the ice storm spread over 20 years so we're all still paying... for gas mining, apparently. what a world.

In Oklahoma I don't think the bitcoin caused a problem with Uri. I suspect that the gas and electric markets were subject to manipulation by the marketers in the market. Not by the utilities which just pass through their costs. Kansas is going after the marketers, Oklahoma has not done a thing and it appears to me that it is being swept under the rug.

But that is a whole other subject.

I emailed you a copy of the CCO fact sheet and letter to the senators on HB4118. Best thing is to contact your senator by email or phone.

One of the things I do for the Wilderness Coalition is sit on the Conservation Coalition of Ok's ("CCO") Weekly Legislative Update call. You would not believe the crap that our legislature members propose as laws! CCO is fighting hard against a law that would give the poultry industry the right to pollute the waters of OK and they would be immune from criminal or civil penalties sought by government agencies, citizens, businesses or anybody else who was damaged by the pollution. This has already passed the House (HB 118), Stitt says he'll sign it if the Senate passes it. It could happen soon.

They call it the "Right to Farm" law. Everybody else calls it "Right to Harm"

I am way off track, sorry.
